I began teaching in 1991, but when I joined the Our Savior Lutheran Church and School staff in 1994, I knew I had found my ministry – my home. Prior to teaching, I worked both as a staff writer for Coral Ridge Ministries, an outreach of D. James Kennedy’s Coral Ridge Presbyterian church, and as a free lance writer. With certifications in Elementary Education and English (grades 6 through 12), along with graduate level courses in reading instruction, I have served the Lord here by working with children at almost every grade level. In 2009, I was named the Florida-Georgia District’s Teacher of the Year, an honor that I share with this amazing, supportive school community. As the mother of two, grown children, I understand what it is like to share your child with the staff of a school, trusting that they will help your child be successful, fulfilled, and pleasing to God. One of my favorite Bible verses, which comes from Colossians 3:23, speaks to that goal:
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord…”
I have had the privilege of working at Our Savior Lutheran School since September of 1998. It is a pleasure working with such dedicated teachers and staff and watching the children grow over the years. My husband and I have been members of this church since 1981 and our own children attended school here. I have been on the school board, the fellowship board and youth boards in the past. I am currently a member of our church bell choir and enjoy ringing praises to God.
"Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John 13:34
I have been working at Our Savior Lutheran School since August 1992. I was a Pre-K 4 teacher for 15 years and received the Dr. Ben Eggers Outstanding Lutheran Educator of the Year for the Florida-Georgia District in 2004. I currently work as Assistant Childcare Director and Extended Care Coordinator. I am the chair person for OSL school's "Golf Tournament" fundraisier, have been on the Lay Ministry Board for six years and have done numerous volunteer work for the school and church. I am married with three children who came to Our Savior from preschool to the graduating class of fifth grade.
“Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:1-3
Ever since I first felt the Spirit stir within more than a decade ago, I have become increasingly aware of the course that God has laid out for me. My years as a corporate communications professional and then caregiver were all part of His plan preparing me to serve Him as I do today: in music and children’s ministries at Our Savior. All my life experiences I consider gains for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His mercies and blessings are new every morning. I rejoice in praise of Him when I sing, smile at an upturned face, help a parent select a uniform or resolve a concern, and support our dedicated teaching staff. And always guided from within by that still small voice.
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10.
